Let’s enjoy spending time with owls, the birds that bring happiness, at a café!

Would you like to have a close encounter with owls? You don’t often come across these birds in your daily life and they are not exactly common house pets. Owl cafés are recently becoming popular as a relaxing place where you can have an extraordinary experience. You are sure to be enamored with all their cute actions.

Owls in a café

In general, when you enter an owl café, you pay a one-hour fee plus the price for one drink (about 1,500 yen in total). At most cafés, customers are allowed in at the start of every hour and stay for one hour, but some cafés will let you extend the time for an additional fee. Some cafés are reservation-only, so make sure to check before you go.

In order not to put undue stress on the owls, most cafés rotate the owls on shifts so that they each get a break. There are also a few rules to abide by which the café staff will explain them during your visit. Please follow the rules and enjoy. General rules are as follows:
– Sanitize your hands with alcohol before and after you touch an owl
– Do not touch the owl’s stomach. Gently pet its head or throat.
– Make sure your flash is off when taking photos

The number of owl cafés is increasing recently, not only in the city but also in the suburbs. The following is a quick list of a few of them. Why not visit one during your trip and spend some time with owls?
