What is KAWAII MONSTER CAFÉ like?
The “kawaii” culture of Harajuku is now also booming overseas. “KAWAII MONSTER CAFÉ” opened its doors in August 2015, and is produced by artist and leading figure of kawaii culture, Sebastian Masuda. Everything in the café is designed with the imagery of being inside the body of a monster, making you feel as if you were lost in another dimension the moment you enter the café.
4 zones separated by theme
Let’s walk through the entrance, where you are welcomed by the mascot. After the spinning cake-shaped merry-go-round momentarily catches you off guard, you can choose where you would like to sit (cover charge applies [number of seats × 500 yen], food and drink are not included). The café consists of 4 zones, each with a unique atmosphere.
5 monster girls will show you the kawaii culture
In the café, the “monster girls”, dressed in colorful costumes, show you around. They showcase the grotesque side of kawaii culture, and you can even see the current trends of the culture in their fashion.
The world view of “kawaii” can be found even in the menu
The interior design is not the only unique feature of the café, as their menu is also full of fun. You can enjoy colorful pasta and desserts, as well as peculiar cocktails. They have a reputation for being both cute and delicious.
Why not experience the current kawaii culture at KAWAII MONSTER CAFÉ, found only in Harajuku?
